When a fire destroyed their Park Hill home the owners decided to rebuild in a way that better reflected their lifestyle and took advantage of their property’s long northwest views.

Program requirements included the flexibility to display their diverse art collection and a space that could accommodate frequent philanthropic and political fundraising events, both inside and outside the home.

The resulting design is anchored by a double height gallery space which serves as a visual axis between the front entry and view in back.  Two cross axes are used to arrange the home’s formal and informal functions.  Glass walkways in the library and gallery allow filtered light to flow through space. Floating platforms lead guests from the front entry to events on the rear terrace.  Split faced and honed limestone flows from interior to exterior, while Shou Sugi Ban pine symbolically recalls the fire which birthed the owner’s new home.
