When it was first constructed in the early 1920’s the 24 story Farmers and Merchants Bank Building was briefly the tallest building in Texas.

The building has been sold numerous times over the years but had always been used as an office building.  An extensive restoration was completed in 2010, restoring the building’s exterior to its original glory.

Bennett Partners worked with Memphis-based Development Services Group, utilizing Historic Tax Credits to convert the building into the 226 room Kimpton Harper Hotel.  The Harper features a ground floor restaurant, which is accessed from Main Street through the restored entry doors of the original bank.   Amenities include banquet and meeting facilities along with a rooftop bar and fitness facilities.  The main hotel lobby and bar are located on the 24th floor along with additional meeting facilities.
