The new student center for Texas Wesleyan University is located just north of the recently constructed campus entry and clock tower.
Aesthetically, the new student center is intended to relate closely to the clock tower to help reinforce the campus architectural image. Additionally, the building relates to the campus green just to the north and will create an axial connection between the clock tower and the green. With a student-focused building program, both the exterior and interior provide a plethora of spaces for students to study, meet, and relax. The main lobby of the building will house a monumental stair and double height volumes at each entrance. The north elevation provides a covered portico at the first floor and an exterior terrace at the second floor allowing for shaded seating areas. The west side of the building incorporates a trellis and a small plaza surrounding the existing water feature. The east side of the building includes an outdoor amphitheater, complete with an indoor/outdoor stage. Inside, students will find a campus bookstore, food court, gaming area, lounge area, student organization and government spaces, conference and meeting spaces, and ballroom. Additionally, the university Admissions Department and Student Affairs Department have offices located in the new student center, providing essential services to both the future and current Texas Wesleyan student.
