Fort Worth Country Day expanded its middle school in support of its dedication to keeping class sizes small. An increase in total enrollment and high retention rate led to the need for additional middle school classrooms and related support spaces.
The addition includes five classrooms on the first level and another five on the second level, 2,200 square feet of commons space, and new office space for the middle school staff. The classrooms look out over the newly created double-height commons area. Large expanses of glass introduce natural light from the north into the commons space. Articulated curved masonry walls provide a peeled look and shield the classrooms from the western exposure.
