The renovation of the OMNI theater at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History honors it’s 40 year history as being one of the first domed theaters in the nation and the largest in the Southwest.
The dome and projector are being replaced with an LED array which will create a unique experience and will be the first of its kind in the country. The seating platforms will be modified to accommodate several different types of media and presentation formats. The new screen has the flexibility to display OMNI and IMAX movies as well as Hollywood films. The seating at the lower aisles is adjustable for some viewing as well as lecture presentations from the stage at the front of the theater. In addition to truly spectacular planetarium shows, the screen is able to display content from a number of sources and formats.
Modifications to the lobby and pre show spaces will enhance the visitor experience and will allow for a variety of events and exhibits. The museum has chosen the tagline “OMNI means everything” to convey the limitless possibilities for displays and experiences that will be possible with this new technology.
