Located halfway between Fort Worth and Abilene and about two miles west of the city of Strawn, Palo Pinto Mountains State Park (PPMSP) was purchased by the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) in 2011. Bennett Partners has been tasked with helping ready the 4,400 acres of former ranch land – featuring 1,400-foot ridge lines, a 90-acre lake and two creeks surrounded by pristine forests of live oaks, post oaks and pecan trees.
The design team has considered a variety of issues including park access, utilities, building design and constructability, natural and cultural resource protection, water quality, sustainable strategies, road and bridge design, hydraulics and hydrology impacts, and project phasing and probable costs.
